blogging

There area few simple things you should consider when choosing a blog name:

Does it describe your blog?:  More than likely the first introduction to your blog with be your blog’s name. This could be via a google search, a reposting or mention by another blogger or even a “like” on facebook.   Just by looking at the name a potential reader can summize what your blog is about and  they will be more likely to visit it.  If you blog about many topics and do not stick to one niche, consider using your name in the name of your blog.  Ultimately your name is your brand, you most valuable asset is your name and reputation.

Is it easy to remember?:  If for example you have a blog about tips to save money, how to become more self sufficient and do so while taking care of God gave us, then calling it the “money saving, self-sufficient stewards” while a fair description would not be all that memorable.  Hence: Frugal Green Living.

Your blog name should also be your URL: This is becoming more and more difficult as domain registrations increase making it a difficult task, but that does not make it any less important. If your domain name and blog name do not match, you will be more likely to lose readers as they may visit your blog through a link and remember only the name of your blog and attempt to re-access via your blog name followed by.com.

Hold off on registering it just yet, we will discuss that next.
