We have decided on Blog content/niche.
We have decided on a Blog and Domain Name.
We have chosen a hosting option, now what?
If you have chosen to use a free platform for hosting (ie: blogger, WordPress, tumbler etc) then from here you are on your own for a bit.
I have chosen to self host and pay for hosting services from Hostmonster because I feel it will allow me more flexibility that using a free platform so I will document how I go about that.
Most of the hosting companies I have looked at and test driven are similar and off the most popular blogging platforms and CMS (Content Management software), it is just a matter of a little research for you to choose which is best for you. What is the difference? Not much anymore, many of the blogging platforms are set up so that they can be used as CMS and many CMS can be configured to use as blogging software. What makes it CMS is the ability to sort and present content in a variety of ways using categories much like in a newspaper or department store Where as traditionally, Blogging platforms relied heavily on using tags in search queries to organize the content for search-ability. Now both options offer the best of both worlds, the SEO (search engine optimized) automatic keyword insertion that tags provide as well as the ability to present content by category rather than forcing people to search through listings by tags.
